Troubleshooting YouTube issues

If you experience problems viewing your video, the following steps may help:

Delete your browser data

It is possible that the problem is not the link, but simply your browser. Check whether the video is also displayed incorrectly in another browser. If you only see the problem in one browser, try clearing the cache and cookies.

Insert the link including “https://

If you insert your link without the "https://" part, you may receive the error message", The file or directory could not be found.” Make sure to use the full link when embedding.

Allow embedding of your video

If you receive an error message that says "embedding disabled on request" when embedding your YouTube video in Altar Live, you may have accidentally disabled embedding on YouTube.

To allow embedding, follow these steps from your YouTube account.

For a Live Video

Step 1: Navigate to your YouTube Livestream dashboard.

Step 2: Press the Edit button

Note: If you're using a Webcam option, you can press the "Advanced" button in the "Details" setup step to show to the same settings

Step 3: Keep scrolling until you see a section called License. Click the checkbox in the "Allow Embedding" box.

For a Pre-Recorded Video

Step 1: Navigate to your YouTube video. Make sure you are logged in with admin access to the video.

Step 2: Click the button "Edit Video" below the video. This will open the video editor.

Step 3: Hover over the video and click "Details" pencil icon to open the editor.

Step 4: In the editor, scroll down or click to expand "See More".

Step 5: Keep scrolling until you see a section called License. Click the checkmark in the "Allow Embedding" box.

Step 6: Save the changes.

Change video privacy settings

Step 1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.

Step 2. From the left menu, select Content.

Step 3. Point to the video you'd like to update. To see your live uploads, select the Live tab.

Step 4. Click the down arrow under "Visibility" and choose Public, Private, or Unlisted.

Step 5. Save.

Note: The default video privacy setting for creators aged 13–17 is private. If you’re 18 or older, your default video privacy setting is set to public. Everyone can change this setting to make their video public, private, or unlisted.
