Connecting OBS to Altar Live

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is an open source software for video recording and live streaming. If you are using OBS to create your live stream feed, you can connect it to Altar Live through YouTube or Facebook.

Please follow these steps to connect OBS to Altar Live platform.


Connecting OBS to Youtube


Step 1: Log into your YouTube account. Create a YouTube account if you haven’t already. 

Step 2: Click the +Video icon and select Go Live.



Step 3: On the following screen, select the Stream tab from the left side of the screen and click Create Stream to continue.

Step 5:  Click Copy under the Stream Settings tab opened by default.


Step 6: Open OBS.

Step 7: Open the Settings panel in the bottom right corner.


Step 8: Go to the Stream tab using the left-hand menu and select YouTube from the Service drop-down menu.


Step 9:  In the Stream Key field, type or paste your YouTube stream key. That links OBS with YouTube so the software streams straight to your channel.

Step 10: Exit the settings panel by clicking Apply > OK.

Step 11: In the main window, click the Plus icon under the Sources heading toward the bottom. Select the source from the drop-down.


Step 12: Сlick the Start Streaming button located in the bottom right corner.


Step 13:  Once the OBS establishes the connection to YouTube, the broadcast will be visible in the preview pane and the Youtube video will Go Live.

Connecting OBS to Facebook


Step 1 : Go to Facebook and log in.

Step 2: Navigate to your community's Facebook page or group.

Step 3 : Click on Live video


Step 4: Click on Use stream key option.

Step 5: Find the Stream Key and click Copy

Step 6: Download OBS or open it. 

Step 7: Head into the Settings panel using the relevant button located in the bottom right corner.


Step 8: Go to the Stream tab using the left-hand menu and select Facebook Live from the Service drop-down menu.


Step 9:  In the Stream Key field, type or paste your Facebook stream key. That links OBS with Facebook so the software streams straight to your channel.

Step 10: : Exit the settings panel by clicking Apply > OK.

Step 11: In the main window, click the Plus icon under the Sources heading toward the bottom. Select the source from the drop-down.


Step 12: Сlick the Start Streaming button located in the bottom right corner.


Step 14: Follow this guide to connect Facebook to Altar Live with the event url link.

Connecting OBS to Vimeo


Step 1: Go to Vimeo and log in.

Step 2: Enter the credentials to login. If you want, you can also login with your Facebook and Google account


Step 3: Once you are on the dashboard, click New video button, then select Go Live


Step 4: Vimeo generates both an RTMP URL and a Stream Key. Copy the Stream Key by clicking on the blue button. Keep this page open as you’ll copy and paste these into OBS (your encoder) in just a moment.


Step 5: Open OBS.

Step 6: Head into the Settings panel using the relevant button located in the bottom right corner.


Step 7: Go to the Stream tab using the left-hand menu and select Vimeo from the Service drop-down menu.


Step 8:  In the Stream Key field, type or paste your Facebook stream key. That links OBS with Facebook so the software streams straight to your channel.

Step 9: : Exit the settings panel by clicking Apply > OK.

Step 10: In the main window, click the Plus icon under the Sources heading toward the bottom. Select the source from the drop-down.


Step 11: Сlick the Start Streaming button located in the bottom right corner.
