Joining an event in Altar Live just takes one click! There are no downloads or sign up required to join an event. Anyone can join a public event by clicking on the event URL. Anyone with the link is able to watch and follow along the event.
How to join an event
There are a few ways of how you can join an event in Altar Live:
- Clicking on an event link (you can embed this in your website, send it out via email or text, or share on social media)
- From an invitation email
- From your community's the Events & Meetings screen
Who can join an event?
As soon as you publish an event, any one with the link will be able to click on it and join it. You can set permissions to make an event public, private or for selected members only.
Signing up or logging in during an event
Because Altar Live has interactive peer to peer features, online participants are prompted to sign up as one level of security authentication. An online participant must sign up or log in to direct chat with other online participants, join a watch party, or a table. Learn more about how to sign up during an event.
Joining an event after it has started
If someone clicks on your event link after the live stream has already started, they will join the live stream where everyone else is watching. Whether you have connected an uploaded video, live or simulated live video, everyone will watch the video at the same pace. If someone joins while the event is in Lobby mode, they will automatically join the Lobby with everyone else. Learn more about event timing here.
Joining an event after it has ended
When the Host ends an event, a countdown timer appears notifying participants they have one minute left on the event. When the countdown timer ends, all participants will see an "event ended" screen, and anyone who clicks on the link after it ends will see an "event ended" screen and the link to the event that was live streamed.
Clicking on the event link
Step 1: Click on the event URL link.
Step 2: Once you click on the event link, your default browser will open and you will be in the event!
From an invitation email
Step 1: Open your email inbox.
Step 2: Click on the Join button from the invitation email.
Step 3: Once you click on the Join button, you will see the event screen.
From your community's Events & Meetings screen
Step 1: Log in to Altar Live in your browser.
Step 2: Go to the Events & Meetings screen and find an event
Step 3: Click on the event card.
Step 3: Once you click on the event card, you will see the event screen.
