Welcome to Altar Live! Your community is using Altar Live to host live stream and video-conference events. As a member of a community using Altar, you will be able to watch and participate. Check out the What is Altar? article to learn everything you need to know. Read on to learn more about setting up your member profile.

Join your Community

A Community on Altar Live is a church's shared platform, where church members can view upcoming events. You can join in two ways:

1. An email invitation from your community manager/admin where you can create an account by clicking the Register Button

2. OR your community will send out a self-sign-up link, where you can click on the link and follow the steps to create your account.

Note: If you have not yet received an invitation to join your community, contact your community administrator to re-send a link or email. If you are a community administrator and want to set up a new community, learn more about creating a new community.

Set up your member profile

As a community member in Altar, your profile will have the information you entered when you created your account. When you set up your account, we’ll ask you to enter your full name, email, phone number, and create a password so you can sign in and out with ease.

Step 1. Whether you were sent an email invite or a self-register link, both methods will bring you to this page where you can set up your profile

Step 2. Add your first and last name, email, and phone number into the input fields. You can also add a profile photo by clicking the plus button under the photo icon

Step 3. Set up a password and then click Sign Up

Step 4. Congrats! You are officially a community member and have access to the upcoming events schedule.

Logging in to your community

Once you have been sent an invitation to a community and created an account, you can log in to your community at any time! There are a few ways you can log in:

  • Navigate to the Altar website and click Log-In in the upper right-hand corner. in the upper right-hand corner

Joining Events on Your Browser

Connecting to an Altar Live Event on your desktop or through a browser is easy to join an event on Altar Live

There are a few ways of how you can join an event in Altar Live:

  • Clicking on an event link (you can embed this in your website, send it out via email or text, or share on social media)
  • From an invitation email
  • From your community's Events & Meetings screen

Joining Events on a Mobile Device

Mobile browser experience

Altar events open first in your mobile browser. When you click a link on Altar Live on your mobile phone, your browser will open instead of asking you to download the app first. You will be able to watch and follow along with the live stream without ever having to download the app or log in. To be able to chat or take a seat with someone, users can easily click on the download app button at the bottom of their browser.

Mobile app experience

Downloading the app keeps you on the same event. To use video conference and chat, simply use the button Open the Altar App to open the app from the app store. Once downloaded, you will join the same event and be able to chat and take a seat.
